NPTI are established at every corner of India. They are at Neyveli (1965), Durgapur (1968), Badarpur,New Delhi (1974), Nagpur (1975), Bangalore, Guwahati, Nangal, Alpuzza in Kerala & Shivpuri in Madhya Pradesh.

I. MBA (Power Management):-

There is a special emphasis on specific Power Sector issues and ethos to give extra strength to the Indian Power Sector engineers.

The curriculum has been designed to apply management theories and concepts to the practical problems of the electricity industry.

The course is duly recognized by AICTE and affiliated with Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak.

 

Eligibility:- All candidates (excluding sponsored category) are required to appear for CAT or MAT or CMAT Examination conducted by IIMs.

 

The candidates, who have obtained B.E./B.Tech/ B.Sc. (Engineering) in any branch of Engineering recognized by the M.D. University/ AIU securing a minimum of 60 % marks in aggregate of all semesters or equivalent in terms of CGPA grade are eligible to apply for admission to the course.

 

II. B.TECH in Power Engineering (Electrical/Mechanical)

It has specially designed for the power sector. This 4-year course is as per “ Electricity Act 2003”, prepares skilled engineering executives for the power sector. Eligibility is 12th passed with PCM.

NPTI Bardarpur:- This course is duly recognized by AICTE and affiliated to Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha
University, New Delhi & Admissions through Common Entrance Test (CET) conducted by Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU) in May/June

 

NPTI Durgapur:- This course is duly recognized by AICTE and affiliated to West Bengal University of Technology (WBUT) & Admissions through Common WBJEE / AIEEE in May/June.

 

NPTI Nagpur :- This course is duly recognized by AICTE and affiliated to RTM Nagpur University. &Admissions through Common Admission Process (CAP) of Maharashtra Govt ie DTE (Directorate of Technical Education) in May/June.

III.(a ) PGDC in Power Plant Engineering:- The course covers the Operation and Maintenance of Thermal Power Plants. PGDC in Power Plant Engineering also satisfies the mandatory requirement of Indian Electricity Rules.

Indian Electricity Rules stipulates that no person shall be authorized to operate or undertake maintenance of any plant or whole of generating stations of capacity 100 MW

 

and above together with associated sub-station unless he is adequately qualified and has undergone the specified training at a recognized training institute.

Course Duration:- 52 Weeks.

This course is directly related to electricity distribution concepts. The content of this course is & the smart grid technologies, their applications & control issues covering Smart Generation, Smart Transmission & Smart Distribution.

III.(c) PGDC in Power System Operation:-Objective of the course is to provide the basics concepts of electric Power system generation, operation, and control. The emphasis is on power system operation and operating mechanisms/tools.

The course focuses on the market structures that exist within the electric energy industry. It includes the mechanism of energy markets; comparative market systems; determination of prices under different market structures; electricity market architecture; electricity market design; dispatch and new build decisions; risk and risk management, current and proposed policies on the energy industry etc.

Course Duration:- 52 Weeks.

III. (e) PGDC in Renewable Energy & Grid Interface Technologies:-

The focus of the course is to equip the students with technologies, economics, and policy involving energy systems and supply with Renewable Energy sources.

Detail expertise will be offered in Solar energy systems involving photovoltaic as well as thermal energy systems, wind energy, biomass, Geothermal, Tidal, and Wave Energy, Hydrogen & Fuel cells, Small Hydro along with problem associated with grid integration of all the sources and concept of SMART grid.

The main objective of the course is to create a technically trained manpower readily available for recruitment by the power companies and electrical service divisions of large industries in the area of Transmission & Distribution of Electrical Power.

III.(g) PGDC in Hydro Power Plant  Engineering:-

To prepare engineers to become Power Station Managers in Operation and Maintenance of Hydro Power Stations.

This 39- week duration course covers all aspects of Hydro Power Plant engineering viz creation, O&M, commissioning, etc. The Course authorizes the engineer to operate and maintain Hydro Power Plants.

Course Duration:- 39 Weeks.

Eligibility:- B.E./B. Tech. or equivalent in Mechanical/Electrical/Electrical & Electronics/Power Engg.

III.(h)  PGDC in Transmission & Distribution System:-

The main objective of the course is to create technically trained manpower readily available for recruitment to the power companies in the area of Transmission & Distribution of electrical power.

Course Duration:- 6 Months.

Eligibility:- B.E./B. Tech. or equivalent in Electrical/Electrical & Electronics/Power Engg.

IV.(a) PDC in Power Plant Engineering:-

To give the Operators/Supervisors the knowledge and skill of overall operation and maintenance of thermal Power Plants along with a specific background in Distribution Engineering.

Course Duration:- 1 year.

Eligibility:- Diploma or equivalent in Mechanical/Electrical/Electrical & Electronics Engg.
