In this topic, I want to give information about PSU Jobs for Engineers. It may be in the Technologies Industry, Finance sector such as Banks, Insurance etc, Defence Sector etc. In this post, the contents are the following.

I. LIST OF PSU COMPANIES
Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) Companies are owned by the Government of India or State Governments or both or any other PSU.
Ownership means a minimum of 51% holding in particular Companies. If Govt. Holding is less than 51% than Company considered as into Private Company.
Presently approx 270 PSUs exist in India. They are categorised on the basis of annual turnover into Maha-Ratna, Navratna, Mini Ratna-I & Mini Ratna-II.
Accordingly, they get more freedom to take the financial decision without the interference of Govt. to run their business.

II. PATTERN OF ENTRANCE EXAM
Some PSU recruits Management trainees on the basis of GATE Marks, after that Interview & Personnel Interview. Various PSU takes its own exam and then Interview & PI.
Some PSUs also conduct Campus Interview for recruitment as Management trainee at IITs, NITs & other reputed colleges.
For Mid rank recruitment, they ask for an experience certificate & higher Degree such as MBA, MTech. etc. For such recruitment, they take interviews only.
GATE EXAM:- It is purely a Technical exam. For cracking such exam, it is better to prepare from 6th Semester from your college. You can take help from various coaching institute materials along with your course books.
OTHER THAN GATE EXAM:-It is a combination of Technical & General Studies ( Quantitative Aptitude + Reasoning + English + General Science + Current Public Affairs etc). Basically, such exam criteria are only your problem-solving Speed. So craking such exams, Technique, Books & guidance is important. Here I have mentioned name of books which are helpful to Engineers.
III. JOB PROFILE & PROMOTIONS
The initial appointment in PSU is Management Trainee (E1 or E2). After Completion of 1-year training, you will be recruited as MT.
But you have to fill Bond paper for serving a minimum of 3 years after completion of Training.MT is an Executive cadre. Since there is no provision of recruitment through UPSC. So MT may be promoted up to CMD of the particular company.
There are approx 270 PSUs as on October 2019. Commonly every company is working in construction, Projects, Manufacturing, Minning, Designing, Consultancy, inspection except Oil Sector Companies & SCI. If you will be posted in these segments, Job profile will as below.
CONSTRUCTION:- You will be posted as a Construction site, which may be distant from Town. Now you have to monitor the construction work. Being in charge of site work, you are responsible round the clock.
Here two types of posting are 1. In Head Quarter or 2. At Site. In the case of Head Quarter posting, you will be involved in making Drawing, Approval of Drawing from Consultant,
Co-ordination between Client, Supplier, Contractor, Consultant & other concerned agencies. Duty is in office Hour. Whereas, Site posting job profile is the same as Construction.
MANUFACTURING:- Here you will be controlled Manufacturing activity on the shop floor. It is shift duty.
MINING:-You will be posted at Mining Site. Here you have to take charge of storage, weighing, quality & transportation of ore.
DESIGNING:-It is basically designing of Machines, Buildings, Projects, various systems in MECON, EIL, PDIL, etc.
CONSULTANCY:- Concerned to give advice to the client for executing the project. Such as EIL, MECON etc.
INSPECTION:-Here consultant agency do inspection work on behalf of the Client at the manufacture’s premises or on Construction sites.
SCOPE OF PROMOTION:-Promotion pattern is almost the same in all PSUs. You will be recruited as MT in the executive cadre. You will get the first promotion after 4 years of your service.
You will be promoted to E-2 level and your basic pay will get increased after every promotion.
After another 4- 5 years you will get promoted to E-3 level. The same pattern will be continued until your job end.
Here for an executive cadre job, there is no need to qualify UPSC or State PSC. You may become the CMD of your company.
