GROUP – A & B GOVERNMENT JOBS FOR GRADUATES & UNDERGRADUATES
Here I have tried to explain various types of Group – A & B government jobs for graduates & undergraduates.
Only two types of jobs come under the Govt Job category:
1. Jobs in Govt. Sector means 100% stake of Govt.
2. Jobs in PSUs mean a minimum 51% stake of Govt & a maximum 49% stake of the public.
I. RECRUITMENT PROCESS Gr A & B THROUGH UPSC
Every year UPSC conducts exams for Graduates ( Technical & Non-Technical). Technical Graduates means candidates having minimum education B.Tech/B.E or M.B.B.S.UPSC conducts various types of the exam under its flagship.
Usually, UPSC takes the first Preliminary Examination, after that Main Exam followed by an interview.
1. CIVIL SERVICES EXAM:
Its notification publishes normally in January & the exam in May. All type graduates are eligible for this exam Tech/Non-Tech even if Doctors also.
After qualifying UPSC, they get a job in Finance, Store, Personnel, Security (RPF) under various ministries such as Railway, Defence, Heavy Industry, etc.
2. FOREST SERVICE EXAM:
Its Pre Exam merged with Civil Services Exam, but Main & Interview are separate from Civil Services. You must hold a Bachelor’s degree in at least one of the subjects namely Animal Husbandry
& Veterinary Science, Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, and Zoology or a Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Forestry or in Engineering ( Civil, Mechanical & Chemical).
3. ENGG. SERVICES EXAM:
Its notification publishes normally in September & exams in January. The Candidate must have obtained a degree in Engineering or MSc. degree in particular subjects.
For details see the current notification, please. Recruitment on the results will be made to the Services/ Posts of Govt. Departments under the following categories:‐
Cat I‐Civil Engg.
Cat II‐ Mech.Engg.
Cat III‐ Electrical. Engg.
Category IV‐ Electronics & Tele. Engg.
4. COMBINED MEDICAL SERVICE EXAM:
Its notification publishes normally April & the exam in July. A candidate must pass or appearing the written and practical parts of the final M.B.B.S. Examination.
It is a two-stage selection process:-1. Preliminary Exam 2. Interview after qualifying for the written exam. Major vacancies are Railways, Health Services of Central Govt. & Indian Ordnance Factories, New Delhi Municipal Council & Corporation.
5. COMBINED GEO-SCIENTIST & GEOLOGIST EXAM:
Its notification publishes normally in September & exams in January.
For Geologists Gr ‘A’ in Geological Survey of India:- Master’s degree in Geological Science or Geology or Applied Geology or Geo-Exploration or Mineral Exploration or Engineering Geology or
Marine Geology or Earth Science and Resources Management or Oceanography and Coastal Areas Studies or Petroleum Geosciences or Petroleum 6 Exploration or Geochemistry or Geological Technology or Geophysical
Technology from a University
For Geologists Gr ‘A’ in GSI:-M.Sc. in Physics or Applied Physics or M.Sc. (Geophysics) or Integrated M.Sc.(Exploration Geophysics) or M.Sc (Applied Geophysics) or M.Sc. (Marine Geophysics) or M.Sc. (Tech.) (Applied Geophysics)
For Chemists Gr ‘A’ in GSI:-M.Sc. in Chemistry or Applied Chemistry or Analytical Chemistry from a University.
6. I.E.S./I.S.S. Examination:
Indian Economic Service/Indian Statistical Service Examination held separately upto 3 days.Its notification publishes normally March & exam in June.
A candidate for the Indian Economic Service must have obtained a Post-Graduate Degree in Economics/Applied Economics/Business Economics/Econometrics from a University.
A candidate for the Indian Statistical Service must have obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics/Mathematical Statistics/Applied Statistics as one of the subjects or a Master’s degree in Statistics/Mathematical Statistics/Applied Statistics from a University.
7. CENTRAL ARMED POLICE FORCES (ACs) EXAM:
Its notification publishes normally April & exam in August. UPSC takes exam for recruitment of Assistant Commandants (Group A) in the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) viz. Border Security Force (BSF), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Central Industrial Security Force(CISF), Indo‐Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) and Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB).For more details
8. N.D.A. & N.A. EXAM:
UPSC conducts National Defence Academy & Naval Academy Examination twice in a year. The first notification publishes normally in January & the exam in April. The second notification publishes normally in August & the exam in November.
For Army Wing of National Defence Academy :— 12th Class pass of the 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent examination conducted by a State Education Board or a University.
For Air Force and Naval Wings:—12th Class pass of the 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent with Physics and Mathematics conducted by a State Education Board or a University.
9. COMBINED DEFENCE SERVICES EXAM:
UPSC conducts C.D.S Examination twice in a year. First notification publishes normally October & exam in February. The second notification publishes normally June & the exam in September.
For I.M.A. and Officers’ Training Academy, Chennai — Degree of a recognised University or
equivalent.
For Indian Naval Academy—Degree in Engineering from a recognised University/Institution.
For Air Force Academy—Degree of a recognised University (with Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level) or Bachelor of Engineering.
