Centralized Employment Notification CEN 02/2018 & RRC-01 /2019‘s vacancies are considered here for information. Both are Group C & D vacancies of Indian Railway. As a per-PIB link, GR-D,level-1 post-treated as Gr-C Post,level-1. So vacancies are processed by RRB, not by RRC.
Promotion Policy
It is very good that direct entry is in Gr-C instead of Gr-D. Normally in this cadre, you will be promoted to level 7 or 8 in due course of time. This means if you get into the entry in Mechanical Department, you will retire in the Post of Senior Section Engineer.
Priority of Post
There are various types of vacancies in Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Signal & Telecom, Traffic & Medical. As per your ITI/ Technical degree, you will get a post. Set your priorities during the application for a job, you will get the post as per your rank & option.

Job Profile
As the name indicates, being an Assitant in various departments means you have to help your seniors to perform their regular duty. The job will be shift-wise or regular roster (10 – 5).
Pay Scale
Level 01 of 7th CPC Pay Matrix with initial pay of ₹18000/- plus other allowances admissible at that time.
CEN 02/2018 Vs RRC-01 /2019
Basically, the name of the post and eligibility have been changed. In an earlier vacancy Helper post has been renamed, Assistant. Other things remain the same.
Medical Category
The first condition is that the Candidate must be Physically fit in all respects.

NOTE:-

Candidates who have undergone Lasik surgery or any other surgery procedure to correct refractory error are not eligible for the post having Medical Standards A2, A3, B1, and B2.
Candidates found medically unsuitable for the applied post (s) shall not be given any alternative appointment.

Educational Eligibility
10th pass (OR) ITI from institutions recognized by NCVT/SCVT (or) equivalent (OR) National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) granted by NCVT as written in Detailed Centralized Employment Notification RRC-01/2019.
10th pass plus National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) granted by NCVT (OR) 10th pass plus ITI from institutions recognized by NCVT/SCVT as mentioned in Detailed Centralized Employment Notification CEN 02/2018.
Selection Process
The entire recruitment process shall involve Computer Based Test(s), Physical Efficiency Test (PET), Document Verification, and Medical Examination.
Computer-Based Test – 100 questions in 90 minutes – No of Questions (each of 1 mark) from [ General Science -25, Maths- 25, General Intelligence and Reasoning – 30 & General Awareness and Current Affairs – 20 ]
PHYSICAL EFFICIENCY TESTS (PET)

The Questions will be of objective type with multiple choice and are likely to include questions pertaining to
MATHS:- Number system, BODMAS, Decimals, Fractions, LCM, HCF, Ratio and Proportion, Percentages, Mensuration, Time and Work, Time and Distance, Simple and Compound Interest, Profit and Loss, Algebra, Geometry and Trigonometry, Elementary Statistics, Square root, Age Calculations, Calendar & Clock, Pipes & Cistern etc.
General Intelligence and reasoning:-Analogies, Alphabetical and Number Series, Coding and Decoding, Mathematical operations, Relationships, Syllogism, Jumbling, Venn Diagram, Data Interpretation and Sufficiency, Conclusions and Decision making, Similarities and Differences, Analytical Reasoning, Classification, Directions, Statement – Arguments and Assumptions, etc.
General Science:-The syllabus under this shall cover Physics, Chemistry and Life Sciences of 10th standard level(CBSE).
General Awareness on current affairs in Science & Technology, Sports, Culture, Personalities, Economics, Politics and any other subject of importance.
