JOBS AFTER MASTER & PH.D. DEGREE IN ENGLISH
Being International Language, English is an evergreen subject. But it is better to do a Graduation Degree in English with regional paper/ Hindi as a subsidiary subject.
For more job, Master Degree or B.Ed. (Bachelor in education) is essential. Further, if a candidate does a P.HD. in English, he will be eligible for an Assistant Lecturer job in Degree College.
CAREER PROSPECTS IN ENGLISH
1. Tuition/English Coaching Centre:-
The nature of this profession may be permanent or temporary type depends upon various factors. But it has huge scope everywhere in the world. After graduation in English, anyone can provide English tuition to students. So just after graduation, it provides earning options. So anyone helps his family & himself by providing tuitions.
It is a better and noble job option. You can join as an English teacher in Govt. or Private college at primary or higher level depends upon your educational qualifications. This job requires minimum Graduation and B. Ed. Degree. After qualifying in the UGC-NET exam you will eligible for JRF & after that eligible for an Assistant Lecturer job in Degree colleges.
Editing can be a good option for an English Language graduate. This job needs basic qualities such as good English writeup, word usage, and sentence structure in order to expertise in editing works. The candidate may get a job in any of the publishing houses, Corporate sectors, newspapers, etc for converting official documents, news, books from regional/Hindi language to English.
Various organizations (Private & Govt.) recruits Interpreter/Translator for their departmental works. But there is a basic difference in Interpreter/Translator. An interpreter converts any spoken material from one language into a different language, whereas, a translator converts written material from one language into a different language.
JOB OPPORTUNITIES IN GOVT. SECTOR
1. TRAINED GRADUATE TEACHERS(TGTs):
Its Pay Scale (6th Pay Commission) is Rs.9300-34800 (Grade Pay Rs.4600)
Age limit:- 35 years maximum.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATION:-Four years integrated degree course of Regional College of Education of NCERT in the concerned subject with at least 50% marks in aggregate. “OR” Bachelor’s Degree with at least 50% marks in the concerned subject/ combination of the subject.
2. RAJBHASHA SAHAYAK OR JR. TRANSLATOR:-
Its Pay Scale (6th Pay Commission) is Rs.9300-34800 (Grade Pay Rs.4200)
Age limit:- 35 years maximum.
Job Profile:-Job include translation from English to Hindi and from Hindi to English of Railway official documents.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATION:-(I) Master’s degree of a recognized University or equivalent in Hindi or English with English or Hindi as a compulsory or elective subject or as a medium of examination at degree level. OR
Master’s degree from a recognized University or equivalent in any subject other than Hindi or English, with Hindi or English medium and English or Hindi as a compulsory or elective subject or as a medium of examination at degree level.
Master’s degree from a recognized University or equivalent in any subject other than Hindi or English, with Hindi and English as a compulsory or elective subject of either of the two as the medium of examination and the other as a compulsory or elective subject at degree level.
(II) Recognised Diploma or Certificate Course in translation from Hindi to English and vice-versa or two years experience of translation work from Hindi to English and vice-versa in Central or State Government offices, including Government of India Undertaking.
3. ASSISTANT LECTURER IN COLLEGES:-
its Pay Scale is Pay Scale- as recommended by the University Grants Commission from time to time and accepted by the concerned State Government.
Age limit:- Min 23 & Max 55 years
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATION:- (I) Master’s degree of a recognized University or equivalent in Hindi or English with A candidate should have throughout the good academic record with a minimum of 55% marks at the Master’s degree or equivalent (or equivalent grade). AND
A candidate must have passed NET/SET or equivalent test accredited by U.G.C.
The Candidates who have obtained Ph.D. Degree on the basis of Minimum Standard and Procedure Regulation, 2009 framed by the University Grants Commission for M.Phil /Ph.D. Degree, shall be exempted from passing the National Eligibility Test.
NET/SET shall also not be required for such Masters Programmes in disciplines for which NET/SET is not conducted.
NOTE:-Normally in every good university, there is a facility of Master & Ph.D. degree in English. But some IITs & EFLU, Hyderabad are best for Masters & a Ph.D. degree in English. I have mentioned their link here.
