Jobs For Engineers In Patenting- Intellectual Property Rights
After the launch of the National Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) Policy on 12th May 2016, there are drastic changes in Patent Application, Geo Indication, etc. Basically, it provides white-collar jobs or intellectual job opportunities for graduates.
I. BASIC ELIGIBILITY FOR JOB
As per the Indian Patent Act, 1970, Basic eligibility for being an Indian Patent agent are the following.
i) a person should be a citizen of India
ii) should have completed 21 years of age
iii) should have obtained a degree in science, engineering or
technology from any University
and
iv) must have passed the qualifying Indian Patent Agent examination conducted by the Indian Patent office.
II. JOB CATEGORIES
Patent Examiner:-He examines Patent Applications,
Controller at the Patent office:-An executive of Government, who checks the Patent application on the basis of the submitted document by the Applicant.
Patent Agent:-He prosecute patent applications for innumerable no. of clients including foreign and Indian Nationals in front of the Controller at the Patent Office.
Patent Analyst:-He does or landscape studies to check for Patentability or invalidity of an innovation.
Patent Attorney:-He has a legal as well as Intellectual Property background and assists inventors to grant a Patent application for their innovation.
Patent Scientist:-He drafts/ evaluates a scientific patent application and renders opinions on its patentability aspects and prospects.
Patent Engineer:-He drafts/ evaluates a technological patent application and renders opinions on its patentability aspects and prospects.
Patent Technologist:-He drafts a Patent application; provides opinions to clients on Patent infringement, invalidity, and freedom to operate studies with respect to innovation.
Technical Specialist:-He provides specialized strategic opinions regarding patentability, invalidity, or techno-viability of a Patent application.
Patent Manager:-He manages the full patent lifecycle including a database with respect to innumerable Patent applications of an organization.
Business development professionals:-He develops business from Patents of innovators; one who negotiates Patent license agreements for its use in a commercial way.
