The National Institute of Wind Energy (NIWE)
The National Institute of Wind Energy (NIWE) is under the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy. It has pioneered in promoting wind energy as one of the primary energy sources in India.
Wind power contributes 10.6% (39247.05 MW) of the total Indian energy mix of 382 GW and stands fourth in the world in terms of installed wind power capacity as of March 2021.
It is An Autonomous Research and Development Institution of the Government of India. Main Campus of NIWE situated at Chennai – 600 100.
I. VAYUMITRA FOUNDATION COURSE
This “Vayumitra Foundation Course” on “Wind Energy Technology” is intended to cover the key topics such as
i) Introduction to wind energy, evolution & developments
ii) Fundamental aspects of a) Wind Turbine Technology, b) Wind Turbine components, c) Wind resource assessment
iii) Basics of a) Design of wind farm, b) Installation & commissioning of wind farms, c) Grid Integration
iv) O&M aspects of wind farms
v) Hybrid systems
vi) Government policies and supportive schemes
Duration: 5 days encompassing presentations, lectures with case studies, success stories, and exercises. The training course timing will be from 09.00 am to 06.00 pm
Course Fee: The Course is completely free, which is sponsored by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), Government of India.
The selected participants will be provided free accommodation in twin sharing and three-time meals.
The registration kit, Course Material, and Participation Certificate (subject to successful completion) will also be provided.
Target Participants: The “Vayumitra Foundation Course” is designed to cater to the needs of various personnel such as technicians, engineers, etc.
It is proposed to train participants (with 10 courses) with the focused group of technicians, diploma and graduates / post-graduate engineers /professionals.
II. Online International Training Course
This “Online International Training Course” on “Wind Energy Technology” will address the following aspects:
Wind energy conversion technology and power generation
Wind turbine technology and developments
Design of wind turbines
Wind turbine components
Wind resource assessment and techniques
Planning including design of wind farms
Wind farm developments and feasibility study
Pre-Investment study and cost-benefit analysis
Installation and commissioning of wind turbines
Post-installation activities – Grid integration
O & M aspects of wind farms
Testing & Certification of wind turbines
Small wind turbine and hybrid systems
Offshore Wind Energy
Policies, schemes, and legal frameworks
Duration: The course duration will be 10 days from 22nd November to 3rd December 2021. The venue for the program will be the online platform through a video conferencing facility [Microsoft Teams (MS Teams)].
Course Fee: There is NO COURSE FEE and is fully funded by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Government
of India under the e-ITEC program.

The National Institute of Solar Energy (NISE)
NISE is an Autonomous Institute of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy. NISE is located at Gurgaon- Faridabad Road, Gurgaon.
Under the skill development initiatives of the MNRE, NISE is mandated as the nodal agency for implementation of “Suryamitra Skill Development Programme (SSDP)”.
I. Suryamitra Skill Development Programme (SSDP)
SSDP aims to develop the skills of youth for employment in Solar Energy Power Project’s installation, operation & maintenance.
Duration: This is a 600 hours residential skill development program following the Qualification Pack of SCG/Q0101.
Target Participants: The qualification of participants shall be ITI / Diploma (Electrical, Electronics, Civil, Mechanical, Fitter, Instrumentation, Welder).
At the end of the course, the proper assessment shall be made and certificates shall be issued by the Skill Council of Green Jobs.
NOTE: Persons with higher qualifications like a degree in any discipline or higher are strictly not eligible.”
