Recruitment Process For Technicians & Alps By RRB In Indian Railways

CENTRALISED EMPLOYMENT NOTICE (CEN) No.01/2018 has been published for the Recruitment of Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP) & Technicians in Level 02 of 7th CPC Pay Matrix with initial pay of Rs.19900/- plus other allowances as admissible.

There are 17673 posts for AUTO LOCO PILOT & 8829 posts for TECHNICIANS including seats reserved for Handicapped persons & Ex. Servicemen. Age limit is in between 18 to 28 years. You can see a detailed advertisement on the website of anyone RRB (For Example RRB Patna as above & marked as 1 .) Brief details are mentioned below:

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION FOR ALP:

A) Matriculation/SSLC (The Secondary School Leaving Certificate ) plus ITI course from a recognized institution of NCVT/SCVT in respective trade as per the applied job. National Council for Vocational Training (NCVT) /STATE COUNCIL FOR VOCATIONAL TRAINING (SCVT) , Industrial Training Institutes (ITI)

OR

Matriculation/SSLC course completed act apprenticeship. OR

B) 3 years of Diploma in a respective engineering discipline from a recognized Institution in the respective subject as per the applied job.

NOTE: A degree in Engineering disciplines also will be acceptable in lieu of a Diploma in Engineering.

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION FOR TECHNICIAN:

Matriculation/SSLC plus ITI degree from a recognized institution of NCVT/SCVT in respective trade as per the applied job.

OR

Matriculation/SSLC plus Course Completed Act Apprenticeship in respective trade as per the applied job.

Stages of Exam:

There shall be two stages of examination (First stage CBT and Second Stage CBT) common for ALP and Technician. In addition, candidates who have opted for ALP and qualified in Second Stage CBT have to undergo Computer Based Aptitude Test (AT). Marks will be normalized in all the stages of the exam.

 

The benefit of RRB Scorecard:

RRBs may share, with the consent of the candidates, the scores obtained by them in RRB exams with other Ministries/ Departments/ Public Sector Undertakings (PSU) and Private organizations, for recruitment in their organizations. Candidates may give their consent for the same, or otherwise, in the ONLINE application.

 

Examination Fee:

RS. 500 for General & OBC candidates and Rs.250* for candidates belonging to SC / ST / Ex-Serviceman / PWDs / Female / Transgender / Minorities / Economically backward class.* This fee of Rs.250 shall be refunded duly deducting bank charges as applicable, on appearing in First Stage CBT.

Scale of pay/ Salary

Level 02 of 7th CPC Pay Matrix with initial pay of `19900/- plus other allowances as admissible.

Pattern & Syllabus of First Stage CBT (Common for ALP/Technician)-

PART-A:  The First Stage CBT  is of a screening nature. The standard of questions for the CBT will be generally in conformity with the educational standards and/or minimum technical qualifications prescribed for the posts.

The score of the first stage exam shall be used only for shortlisting of candidates for the second stage exam as per their merit. Candidates who are shortlisted for Second Stage CBT availing the reservation benefits of a community shall continue to be considered only against that community for all subsequent stages of the recruitment process.

Duration:– 60 Minutes

No of Questions:– 75 Numbers

Type of Questions:– The Questions will be of objective type with multiple choices.

SYLLBUS:

MATHEMATICS:

Number system, BODMAS, Decimals, Fractions, LCM, HCF, Ratio and Proportion, Percentages, Mensuration, Time and Work; Time and Distance, Simple and Compound Interest, Profit and Loss, Algebra, Geometry and Trigonometry, Elementary Statistics, Square Root, Age Calculations, Calendar & Clock, Pipes & Cistern etc.

GENERAL INTELLIGENCE AND REASONING:

Analogies, Alphabetical and Number Series, Coding and Decoding, Mathematical operations, Relationships, Syllogism, Jumbling, Venn Diagram, Data Interpretation and Sufficiency, Conclusions and Decision Making, Similarities and Differences, Analytical reasoning, Classification, Directions, Statement – Arguments and Assumptions etc.

GENERAL SCIENCE:

The syllabus under this shall cover Physics, Chemistry, and Life Sciences of the 10th standard level.

GENERAL AWARENESS ON CURRENT AFFAIRS:

Science & Technology, Sports, Culture, Personalities, Economics, Politics and other subjects of importance.

 

Pattern & Syllabus of Second Stage

CBT- PART-B:

This part is qualifying in nature and shall have questions from the trade syllabus prescribed by Director General of Employment & Training (DGET). Candidates with ITI/Trade Apprenticeship qualification will be required to appear in the section having questions from the relevant trade. Candidates holding Degree, Diploma and HSC (10+2) having eligibility for the posts of ALP have to select relevant trade from the list of trades listed against their engineering discipline/HSC (10+2).The trade syllabus can be obtained from the DGET website. The relevant trades for various engineering discipline/ HSC (10+2) for appearing in the qualifying test is as below:

Duration:– 60 Minutes

No of Questions:– 75 Numbers

Qualifying Mark:- 35 % (This is applicable to all candidates and no relaxation is permissible)

Fitter / Mechanic Motor Vehicle / Tractor Mechanic / Mechanic Diesel / Turner / Machinist / Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic/ Heat Engine / Millwright Maintenance Mechanic

Computer-Based Aptitude Test (Only for candidates who have opted for ALP) Qualifying marks: The candidate needs to secure a minimum score of 42 marks in each of the test batteries to qualify. This is applicable to all candidates and no relaxation is permissible.
